Hello Santa...

Today is transition day. Time to put away all of the fall décor – turkeys, pumpkins, fall leaves, etc.

Say hello to Santa, snowmen, poinsettias and garland!

Yes, it is time to drag out all of the holiday decorations and begin to “deck the halls” as they say. In my rush to get everything done quickly, I tend to decorate the same every year. This year I am planning to take my time and use all of my favorite Christmas décor in new and different ways.

Today I plan to work on my front porch and found some great inspiration photos to get me motivated.

I like the way these 3 wreathes are lined up vertically on the single door.

How about using different colored ball ornaments instead of the traditional greenery?

Square wreaths are another fun way to switch up the front door décor.

I have double front doors and like the look of these side by side holiday wreaths. The Gift Box Topiaries are very fun and festive!

I also plan to use some large lanterns on the porch. I had them filled with pumpkins for fall. Now they will look perfect with candles, ornaments, and pine cones.

Count your blessings...

Good advice for today...and everyday!

view from the car window

I spent the last few days visiting family in Sweet Home, Oregon. We drove up from northern California and had a great time! Its so important to slow down sometimes and remember to be thankful for all the blessings in your life.

Quality time with family, the most valuable blessing of all...

Find your place...

Fall Table setting

With Thanksgiving just a couple of days away I have been thinking about how I will be setting the table. Normally, we have a large group and we like to keep it very casual and simple...grab a plate, fill it with lots of yummy food, and sit wherever you like to enjoy the feast!
This year there will be a smaller group gathering for dinner and I am considering adding place cards to my Thanskgiving table.
I almost always use fall leaves on my table scape like this picture. I could simply write each persons name on the leaf with a metallic ink pen.

I love the idea of using something organic like an apple, pear, or mini pumpkin set on each plate with a simple name tag attached.

I like the look of these napkins with a shaft of wheat tucked into a tie made of twine...

Perhaps I will place an inspiring note of thanks and appreciation on each plate...letting our guests know how much we enjoy spending the day with all of them.

Warming up for winter…

With the days getting shorter, and cooler, I am wanting to add some warmth to my décor. Two words come to mind…Cable Knit!
One of the best ways to add warmth, and texture, is with some new thick and cozy throws…

Find some in bright hues and even stripes to add a punch of color…
