Progress Report–Kitchen Reno Week 5

Making some sweet progress on the kitchen this week…

Our new cabinets were delivered! Finally, something going in instead of things being ripped out, cut up, and repaired. The guys got right to work placing the cabinets and getting them installed…so exciting!

Next decision and purchase to be made is knobs or handles? Gold or silver or ORB? I picked a few of my favorites and posted them on my Instagram asking for opinions…

I definitely decided on gold tone handles, and picked the above 3 options. It seemed to be evenly split on the top and the middle. In the showroom, I was convinced that the middle was my favorite…but after coming home, placing on my door sample, in the light of my new kitchen space, I switched! The top just seems to look best with all of the other components.

I will be using these beautiful knobs from Anthropologie in a couple of places as accents. Love the brass and mother of pearl! The dark wood piece is my finished sample for the reclaimed wood top that will be on the built in hutch. Speaking of my reclaimed wood…our friend Steve dropped of the hutch countertop and  floating shelves for me to sand and finish…

After pulling a few old nails and screws, some sanding, and clear stain…they are going to look awesome!

It sure takes a lot of talent, and tools, (and patience) to make this kitchen happen…

Progress Report–Kitchen Reno Week 4

This week was productive but not very pretty!

More hardwood floor demo and we found some beautiful vintage linoleum under the family room carpet…

Hello 1972!

It was a lot of work getting all of that wood and vinyl flooring ripped up and out. Imagine 3 inch staples and nails everywhere…and I do mean everywhere!

Thankfully we did not find any “surprises” (aka more $$)…and the sub floor will be ready for the new hardwood to be installed on July 28.

Here is a little peek at my cabinet, countertop, backsplash and floor samples…

I have been finding some relief from all the dust and mess by gazing at these samples for the last few days. I just cannot wait to see it all installed and come together! Next week will be cabinet delivery and installation…that will be welcomed progress!

On another note…remember that we are remodeling our master bathroom as a result of finding some water damage during the kitchen demo? Well…I was more than excited to get the vanity delivered yesterday…

More info on this gorgeous vanity coming soon…stay tuned!

Progress Report…Kitchen Reno Week 3

This weeks progress may not look like much in the photo…

But, I am so happy to see the drywall up and textured! Let me tell you…drywall day is MESSY! Thank goodness for the plastic drapes they have put up to contain the dust. The photo above also shows the progress on removing the existing carpet and hardwood floors from the new space. We will be installing new hardwood throughout the entire downstairs. So excited about that!

We also got our new window installed…

This window is centered over my future farmhouse sink…so I will be enjoying this view frequently…and hopefully soon!

For now, I am often found outside in the backyard, relaxing in the only clean spot at my house…

In my next post I will be sharing a couple of DIY projects completed for the kitchen…and I finally picked my backsplash tile! Follow me on Instagram for sneak peeks…
