Our backyard Grad Party will start at 4:00pm…and no doubt, last well into the evening hours, so I have been collecting ideas on how to add interesting lighting. Once again, Pinterest is an excellent source for inspiration…see my “Light Up The Night” pin board here.
Starting with my favorite option…string lights. I love the look of this type of outdoor lighting. There are many styles to choose from…

I have rented several tables and umbrellas to set around the grass portion of the yard, so this would be a perfect option…
I know there are lots of umbrella lighting systems available…but what is so perfect about this idea is no electricity needed – so no cords to trip over!
I love the look of hanging globe style lanterns…
And will certainly find a fun way to light up our swimming pool…
Finally, I already have plenty of tiki torches…
Love this idea of anchoring the torches in a bucket or pail. The added benefit of using tiki’s is that the oil will help keep insects and mosquitos away.
Now that I have all the ideas and inspiration…time to get busy and organize my lighting options for the party!
How do you light up your yard at night?
Ours will be during daylight hours, but love these ideas for a nighttime party. We plan to float things in our pond and still use tiki torches to keep the bugs at bay.
ReplyDeleteFor my last party we had tiki torches (but managed to purchase the wrong oil so they burnt out far more quickly than was practical) but I also love to string fairy lights in the trees. The prettiest party I've had was under an old pergola in a back yard. We hung about 30 old jam jars with a tea light in each. It was beautiful! xx

ReplyDeleteWe use inexpensive solar lights in our backyard, but I'd love to supplement them with a string of lights. I just need to figure out a way to plug them in!
I'd really like to string some lights around our porch to make it more festive this summer. I also had gotten a few lanterns at IKEA a few years ago, and those are great in the summer and we can place them wherever we'd like. We use them into the fall as well. (And they're inexpensive which is great).
ReplyDeleteWe just purchased an outdoor bar/patio set that has a frosted glass top. I installed blue led lights on the middle rack so they shine into the frosted glass. I just figured out how I am going to light the rest of gazebo thanks for the inspiration.
