Chalkpaint Dressers…

Lately I have been collecting and pinning pictures of antique dressers painted with chalkpaint. You can see some of my favorites here on my Pinterest board titled Furniture.

Kate from Centsational Girl always seems to get it just right! I like this particular shot because it reminds me of the antique dresser that I purchased months ago that is sitting in my garage waiting for her makeover...

And just this week, Lane over at Urban Orchard Interiors posted this makeover on an antique dresser she picked up…

Lane always does a beautiful job on her furniture makeovers. This dresser is so similar to mine it really gets me motivated to start AND finish this project!!

I love all the detail…

I purchased this dresser to be included in my Master Bedroom makeover. I will be using it for my jewelry and accessory storage. I just need to figure out what color to paint it, and how to finish it. I am leaning toward a light gray with a hand rubbed wax finish.

I have never used chalkpaint before and am a little anxious to take on this project as my first attempt. However, after reading so many tutorials and seeing so many success stories, I think I should just jump in and try it! What do you think?

Have you painted a piece of furniture with chalkpaint? How was your experience?

Would you recommend refinishing or painting the top?

  1. They are all so beautiful. Particularly like censationsal girl dresser. I've never used chalk paint before, except kids stuff. But these are all so inspiring, I could be tempted if I had the right piece of furniture to do up. Look forward to seeing your finished project!:)

  3. I'm going to be doing this project soon as well too. I've never used chalk paint but I'm really excited about it. The reason I haven't painted our dresser yet because the thought of sanding/priming/painting just seemed dreadful to me, so ASCP to the rescue. My favorite consignment store is going to be selling it, so I'll be able to pick it up there and take a class too. Looking forward to seeing how you finish your dresser and what color you choose. You've got some great detail on there to highlight. Lane's is one of my favorite. She does such a nice job.

  4. Your dresser is gorgeous! It's the perfect pallet for some chalk paint. I used Annie Sloan Paris Grey on my dining table and I love the color! Here is the link: http://drabtofabdesign.com/2012/06/annie-sloan-di…g-table-reveal/
