Front Porch Bench…

In my last post about Garden Benches seen here, I showed you a little sneak peek at a bench I was working on for my front porch…

I have had this wrought iron bench for many years. I purchased it at a flea market when I lived near Dallas, Texas -  back in 2003. I always liked the curved lines and it is the perfect size for a front porch bench.

Although it has always been under cover of the porch, the iron has started to age and look a little too rustic for my current tastes. So, I decided to give it a fresh coat of paint to clean it up and add a pop of color to the front porch…

I love the color of Krylon spray paint in Mountain View. It is a nice shade of blue that adds the perfect accent color to my porch. I also painted the hanging wall basket to match the bench.

All I did was give the bench a very light sanding, then put on a coat of primer with Krylon indoor/outdoor Primer in Gray…

This is the only “in progress” shot I took…for a couple of reasons. I was working between rain showers over multiple days and was so eager to get it done I did not stop to take step by step shots. Pretty basic stuff…lightly sand, wipe down, prime, then paint. Yes, there is another little project getting a new color too!

Doesn’t everybody's side yard look like this?

I am very happy with the results! I collected some fresh flowers from around my yard to fill the wall basket, added a wood stump side table, and a fun pillow to make it pretty…

How are you sprucing up your porch for Spring? Have you been spray painting any projects lately?

  2. So pretty Laura. I love the lines of your bench, they're so fun and whimsical. I haven't started sprucing up the outside of our house yet this spring, it is the last thing we plan on doing before we put it on the market so it's fresh :). Beautiful photos too!

  4. Just came across your blog. I love what you have done with your cute bench, the color looks so pretty and fresh! I'm going to have to remember the color you used. I am going to look for some tall topiary's to put in pots and find a new Spring wreath and possibly a new mat to spruce up my porch!
