Roomscape…Mimi’s Bathroom

A couple of days ago I drove over to my Mom’s house because my brother was on his way to demo her hall bathroom! She has been planning on re-doing this bathroom for quite a while…so even though it was last minute, we were both excited to start this project!

I quickly put together a Roomscape plan for the new bathroom design…

Mimi is leaning toward a clean, bright color palette – with accent colors of blues and browns as shown in the Sherwin Williams Chip-It! paint strip. See more of my Chip It! Chip Cards here.

Currently this hall bathroom is…well…dated. Think faux painted walls, and cherub wallpaper border! As I said, she has been wanting an update for a while now…

My brother showed up around noon, and within minutes the demo had begun…

This is where he was when we got home from our shopping trip to Lowe’s for supplies!
Here is a little peek at almost 50yrs of different décor…

I think that turquois paint behind the toilet is the original – from 1963! You can also see a bit of the vintage botanical wallpaper – circa 1970’s - and the original linoleum flooring! It really is like a little time capsule!

Since my brother Rich is doing this on the side from his full time job…it will be few weeks before it gets completed. No matter, it will be worth the wait!

Stay tuned…

  1. So fun! Your roomscape plan is eerily similar to our guest bathroom plan! We've already got the white tile and pedestal sink with a white shower curtain and we've sort of got an ocean theme, so same colors! The only thing we've still go to do is paint the walls! Great minds think alike!!

  3. This is going to be awesome Laura - and so nice that your brother is able to do the demo and work. I need his help in our house. And I love the old wallpaper peeking through - we had a lot of great wallpaper underneath layers in our house when we bought it. It was a good way to think about the stories behind the home.

  4. How sweet of your brother! Love a good room redo, and the bathroom is so tricky. Will be fun to see how all of this comes together!

  5. I made absolutely no further progress on the painting yesterday, and that's due purely to the fact that I simply can't make a decision.
