Maison & Objet ~ Paris…part II

Welcome to continued coverage of my trip to Paris and the Maison & Objet Design and Trend show for 2013!

In my last post – part I – I shared an overview of this amazing show. Today I want to share some of the creative and beautiful vignettes that were featured by different vendors throughout the show.

Industrial - notice the cable knit shade on the hanging drum light fixture…

Cottage ~ we loved this beautiful white glass bead and crystal chandelier…

Missoni ~ had an amazing booth with several vignettes featuring their signature style of mixing bold and beautiful fabrics…

Vintage ~ this booth by Miss Print specializes in vintage 50’s style fabric and wallpaper…

There were several vendors that had vignettes featuring large floral wall covering…

Then some with a much more modern and graphic vibe…

This vendor was like a mix of Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware products. Their booth was more like an entire retail store…completely set up and merchandised like you would see in the mall or shopping center – amazing!…

Gorgeous French linens…

Now this is what I would call “camping in style!”

And finally, my favorite vendor and booth of the entire show…

SDA Decoration makes the most amazing furniture and more! The driftwood sink as shown on their card was incredible. It was carved out of an actual piece of wood and then coated with a special type of porcelain that they called Vasque Frosting. It was the smoothest, softest surface I have ever felt!

image

They also had these huge solid slab tables that were set so pretty with organic features like moss and driftwood place settings. Notice the interesting glass vases running down the center…they look as though they are melting onto the wooden bases…

This gorgeous table had inlays of glass, filling the large knots and burls of the wood then finished to a smooth as silk surface…incredibly beautiful!

I hope I have not overwhelmed you with all of the pictures I have shared in these last two posts. As you can imagine, I was, and still am, overwhelmed and amazed at this incredible design show…one like I have never seen before!

Next year the Maison & Objet show for 2014 will be held in Singapore…

Note to my friend Jackie…If you need a travel partner next year, just let me know!

And Thank You again for inviting me to join you on this fabulous trip!

The doors of Paris…

While walking the streets of Paris, the most beautiful, unique, doors and entry ways are everywhere. I could not help but stop and take pictures of them!

While browsing through my photos…I decided to collect all the shots of these amazing doors and share them with you. Enjoy…

It snowed several days while we were walking around Paris…and you can see the flakes in front of these beautiful aubergine doors…

Maison & Objet ~ Paris…part 1

The 2013 European design and trend show – Maison & Objet was held in Paris last weekend..and I was there!

MAISON&OBJET

MAISON&OBJET

As shared in my post here, I traveled to Paris last week with my friend, Jackie Jordan, to attend the show and explore this amazing city.

One word to describe this show…overwhelming! To begin, the show was held at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre. Imagine over 8+ huge buildings (each one the size of an airplane hanger!) filled with the exhibits and booths from retail and mail order companies, department stores, art galleries, interior designers and decorators. This show offers a unique opportunity to gain an overview of the trends in decoration, furniture, home furnishings, etc., and would take over 3 days to walk it and see everything!

Jackie and I started at building #7…

And the inspiration hit immediately when you walked through the doors! Since I took well over 100 pictures…I will do my best to give you a feeling for the show with pictures and descriptions of some of the displays and booths we visited.

A few of the words that come to mind after browsing through the show are organic, hand made, fine lines, texture, and soft muted tones and colors. Keep these words in mind while looking through the following photos.

Beautiful pottery and glass ware…

This is just a sampling of the many, many, many, pictures I took while at the show. I decided to break it down into a couple of posts to share with you. As you can tell, there was so much to see and experience.

Next time I will be featuring some of the stylish vignettes and a few of my favorite booths and products.

What are the items and displays that caught your eye in this post?
