Here in Northern California we are experiencing a heat wave. The weather forecast is calling for possibly one of the hottest days of the summer…today, on the 2nd day of fall!
Although, now I am hoping everything doesn’t wilt and dry up! I remember growing up here in the Bay Area, and wanting to wear all of my new school clothes in September – jeans, boots, sweaters – but having to wait a few months since we always get the Indian Summer heat. We may not see real cold until December or even January!
Now, when I say real cold…my friend that lives near Detroit, Michigan just laughs at me! Us Californians don’t know REAL cold like a Midwest winter! That’s why we can grow succulents and ivy on our front porch all year long…
I love the look of the Fairy Tale pumpkins, especially the white ones…
Just like the one that turned into a beautiful horse drawn carriage for Cinderella…
And I always have to buy several good old fashioned orange pumpkins. How else can you make a classic Jack-O-Lantern?…
So, don’t pack away your shorts, and flip flops just yet! Here in California we welcome fall with an ice cold drink, to be enjoyed in the shade, on a front porch all decked out with mums and pumpkins!
Happy Fall
Laura, the porch is beautiful! We are finally getting some cooler weather. I really need to spruce up our front porch. I just emptied the summer pots the other day.
ReplyDeleteIt is crazy hot here! I love the gourds, and the Cinderella-white one is my favorite too:)

I love the mix of flowers on your porch and how you've incorporated your touches of fall. When you say heatwave are we talking 90s? Our mornings have been cooler but the afternoons have been getting up to the 70s which is perfect.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job! The perfect mix of fall and summer. Hopefully you get some cooler weather soon! :)
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty and welcoming. Fall with elegance!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful. A little different than we're used to here in the midwest! But just really lovely - I like the white pumpkins too. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful display! Enjoy that heatwave! Here in New England it has been so rainy :(
ReplyDeleteHow lovely...just like your blog! I'm a new GFC follower :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful porch! I love the butternut shape... never thought to use it in decor! Just cooking! Bravo for you to get in the fall spirit! At least is will be 80 next week! That is a cool down or sorts!
